Sadie Spikes Curious Character
There is something within the faded and moth-eaten, the stains and the scribbled notes, the dog-eared and the well worn that allows a glimpse of the private. They are physical reminders that evidence the domestic and ordinary. Remnants that have absorbed the everyday, seemingly incidental and often overlooked these humble objects have managed to capture the invisible. It is this that excites my curiosity and drives me to create work that exposes the magic I see in them.
History
Sadie Spikes has exhibited continually since 1996. Her projects have varied from solo installations in non art environments, collaborative projects, residencies, group shows and selected exhibitions. She completed her specialist degree, 'Fine art in Context' B.A (Hons) in 1996. On gaining a First she was awarded the position of Junior Fellow in Live Art at The University of the West of England Bristol 1997. And has since continued to lecture whilst making and exhibiting her work. She completed a 'Fine Art' M.A in 2004.
Her work is highly collectible and visually intriguing and is the result of many years experience and practice. Previously specialising in installation her work has developed to include her 'mini installations' in the form of assemblages.
Her work continues to develop and is set to attract attention for its delicately tactile nature and fragility.
