Sadie Spikes Curious Character
There is something within the faded and moth-eaten, the stains and the scribbled notes, the dog eared and the well-worn that allows a glimpse of the private. They are physical reminders that evidence the domestic and ordinary. Remnants that have absorbed the everyday, seemingly incidental and often overlooked these humble objects have managed to capture the invisible. They seem to whisper, exciting my curiosity challenging me to capture the illusive, driving me to create work that exposes the magic I see in them. My job often feels like a museum creator almost despairingly attempting to document something as it disappears…it is perhaps a fruitless task that attests to a desire or unwillingness for the everyday life to go unnoticed.
